Story of viduthalai movie
A railway disaster results in numerous fatalities and seriously injured victims. The State and Union ministers are visibly horrified by the level of savagery as the emergency personnel and government representatives arrive on the scene. Later it is discovered that the disaster was caused by the extreme Tamilar Makkal Padai, also known as the Tamils’ People’s Army, who were protesting the state government’s decision to allow a mining firm to take over their hamlet for a project.
As a result, the government launches “Operation Ghosthunt” in an effort to apprehend the group’s leader, “Vaathiyar” Perumal, who is thought to be a ghost because no one has ever seen him but who is known to be involved in similar attacks despite not being seen.
A recently hired constable from Chinnapudur who belongs from a lower middle class household, Kumaresan is looking for a steady job to support himself and his mother. After being chosen for the operation, Kumaresan is brought to the police training facility and assigned to the operation as a new driver.
In addition to learning that obeying orders is crucial and that he cannot always aid the people, Kumaresan also learns about the convoluted ties and tensions between Makkal Padai and the government, which contradicts with his desire to be helpful. Additionally, he learns what bureaucracy is all about and how important it is to negotiate professional life, especially as a just hired officer. The granddaughter of the widow Kumaresan saved is Tamilarasi “Pappa,” and the two of them enjoy spending time together.
The government appoints DSP Sunil Menon as the leader of the operation after a terrible incident masterminded by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ragavendar, where they choose to turn the locals against Perumal. Through questioning a villager, Sunil is able to sketch Perumal’s face. When Kumaresan realises that Perumal and his men were the people he assisted while on duty, he informs Head Constable Chandran of this. Chandran, who is truly participating in “Makkal Padai” and passes information about Kumaresan to Perumal, is not known to Kumaresan or the police.
Makkal Padai decides to target Sunil instead of Kumaresan and attempts to kill him, but he escapes, at which point he instructs some of the policemen to pose as members of “Makkal Padai” in order to gain the trust of the locals.
Pappa reveals to Kumaresan that Perumal truly targeted the police personnel who were torturing innocent people in the guise of police interrogation. She also discusses the police officers’ role in her father’s passing and her mother’s loss of sanity. Kumaresan becomes aware of the police abuse of the peasants and recognises Perumal’s sincere motives.
When Makkal Padai attacks the mining company’s inauguration on the day of the event, some of the policemen are shot and killed. Furious, Sunil gives the order to drag any locals who may be connected to Makkal Padai.
The villagers are taken into custody, and while being questioned, Pappa’s grandma is slain. Pappa is also tortured, along with other female villagers. When Kumaresan informs Sunil about Perumal’s hiding place, 10 officers are tasked with finding him. After a fierce gunfight, Kumaresan captures Perumal.
In the moment before the credits, Ragavendar suspends Kumaresan for failing to submit an act of subordination memo while a photographer learns of the horrifying crimes committed against the police force. Sunil questions Perumal after he has been detained.
