Summer is almost here and with international travel predicted to break records this year there are few things more important than ensuring you have the perfect Euro friendly wardrobe to beat the heat. But even if a European beach club isn’t on your itinerary this summer, these fashion tips can help you stay cool (temperature and trend wise) wherever you are!

Classic, relaxed and chic are all style descriptions that come to mind when thinking about the European summer aesthetic. Linen plays into these categories seamlessly. Not only will trousers, a button down, or a set keep you cool walking the cobblestone streets of Capri, these pieces will serve your capsule collection for summers to come! There are certainly some unique clothing items to splurge on for holiday, but linen isn’t one of them. Stores like J. Crew, Zara, DISSH, and trending label Posse (Sofia Richie approved) have endless colorful + neutral linen that won’t break the bank.

Now that you’ve strolled through the historic streets and peeked into local boutiques, it’s time to hit the beach clubs! Trade in your neutral linen set for bright colored prints and a bathing suit paired with matching sarong. If you are going to splurge this summer, this is where I would recommend doing it. Although colorful prints aren’t typically considered part of a capsule collection, designers like Emilio Pucci, Missoni, and Hermes make pieces that will stand the test of time. Also check out Cin Cin’s “High Summer” collection. These iconic silks and prints can be worn in the form of mini dresses, scarves, or swim sets and are appropriate for relaxing in the sand or sailing the South of France.

Of course, none of the outfit ideas discussed would be complete without accessories, which might be the most important pieces to ensure you have an enjoyable, safe, and comfortable vacation.

Let’s begin with bags. I always go for something with a zip closure to keep my belongings safe. But not to worry, you don’t have to compromise style for practicality. Brands like Prada, Jacquemus, and Loewe all make bright colored and tonal raffia bags that will complete any Euro summer outfit.

While those historical cobblestone streets I mentioned are gorgeous, they can quickly turn treacherous in the wrong pair of shoes. Opt for something flat and comfortable. TC recommends sneakers, flat sandals, or if you really want to embrace European style – loafers.

Last but certainly not least, you can’t let your skincare regiment go to waste with a sunburn — so hats are a must! Wide brimmed and bucket hats give full coverage and elevate your entire look. If you aren’t typically a hat person COS, Madewell, and Lack of Color all have affordable yet adorable options. If hats are part of your year-round wardrobe and you are looking for something to invest in, Loro Piana, Maison Michel, Celine, and Isabel Marant are a few of our favorites.

Whether you’ve planned a coastal European holiday or a relaxing staycation by the pool, these polished styles will elevate aesthetic + enjoyment. Pieces that pair perfectly with Portofino can be applied to your daily wardrobe from now until fall. Classics never go out of style, so if there is something you see as a staple in your closet for years to come — splurge on the high quality version and save the #BidenBudget for trends that are only here for the season. Remember, leave some extra room in your suitcase, because our dollar will take you further abroad.
