If there is something I truly enjoy in life, it’s a quick, tasty and easy recipe. These baked avocado fries check all the points! They are a perfect snack for a party or as an appetizer. We are not the ones that love to throw parties, bear that in mind. But our parents love to have people over and always ask for new recipes to try out on their guests.

So while going through the archives, I remembered we had tried these delicious baked avocado fries years ago when I visited the girls in London and loved them ever since! I must admit, I have never been a fan of avocados at first.
Yes, you read it right. I despised them. Tried them twice and crossed them off all of my food. I am not exaggerating, you can ask anyone that knows me. Also, avocados in Italy were not all the rage while I was living there. Few supermarkets had them and they were quite expensive, which suited me good!

So when I first tried avocado on an early journey in London, I had made my decision. It was buttery in my mouth, but almost without taste to me. Come to a hot summer day couple of years after, and it was these baked avocado fries that changed my mind.
Imagine a crisp and crunchy outside with a buttery inside. They totally redeemed avocados for me! Would I manage to go back, I would tell my younger self to try more food with it. To try something different, cooked in a different way, can make all the difference.
Avocados are now all the rage everywhere and you can find them wherever you are. So why are avocados so popular? Why is avocado on toast or avocado smoothie so popular?
Well, avocados have great health benefits if eaten on a varied diet. (We are not doctors or claim to be; we found these facts on Healthline).
- They’re great sources of nutrients. They contain vitamin K, vitamin C, vitamin B5 & B6;
- They contain more potassium than bananas. Potassium is great for healthy blood pressure levels;
- Can lower cholesterol;
- Full of monounsaturated fatty acids and fibres;
- Rich in antioxidants.
So these baked avocado fries will be a great snack and differently from regular fries, they’re baked. So no external oil is added in the cooking, so that’s a win-win right? But before we get bored with only facts, let’s see how we make these easy snacks!
These were the perfect snack with a glass of wine or ready for a game night. We have actually featured them in our Father’s day gift guide alongside one of the coaster games!

Avocados are not all these good things only, though. The exceptional increase in demand for this fruit has created a large problem around the world. While they are one of the most nutritious fruits, they are on the other hand one of the hardest on the environment. Avocado plants need certain temperatures, care and are very susceptible to the climate, which makes them hard to grow everywhere.
One avocado takes 320 Litres of water only to grow, without considering the carbon footprint it leaves behind (846.36 g) as they are mostly produced in South America. Most of all, it should be considered that the high demand made it almost impossible for local people to afford this fruit, which was a large part of their diet.
Now with this, I am not trying to scare you off avocados, I swear. I just wanted to put out there something I learned not long ago while reading about them. We now try to eat avocados less than we used to, I know it’s not enough, but it will take time to change.
To finish off on a bright side, I am sure that almost everyone has tried their hands at growing something this past year. A lot of people use the seed inside the avocado to get a plant out of it. Sure don’t expect an avocado after a year, as it takes as long as ten. And as we said, they’re very temperamental plants, but I can assure you that they make a nice one to add in the mix of your house.
They grow quite tall and sturdy. They need a lot of light, but I think it’s a great project to try, mostly if you are or have someone that gets very excited about plants! To check out how to grow your avocado plant, check this easy video here.

I grew up with an avocado tree in my front yard. Unfortunately, it’s one of a few things I can best eat disguised. Just wished I knew of this then 😂. I’m wondering if I’m sufficiently brave to try this now.
